HUGE LOSS. Legendary actress passed away today

Susan Backlinie, an actress and stuntwoman who played the first person eaten by the shark in Jaws, has died.

Backlinie passed away at home in Ventura, California, on Saturday. She was 77 years old.

Matthew Templeton, her convention agent, told The Daily Jaws that the news was true.

“It is with heartfelt regret to confirm our beloved Susan passed away this morning,” he said.

“We want to thank everyone who sent their condolences at this time.

“Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

She was best known for her role as Chrissie Watkins in Steven Speilberg’s 1975 movie Jaws.

It was when she was 28 years old that the nationally ranked swimmer and professional diver played the victim of skinny-dipping.

For a while, Backlinie worked with animals and water before the movie found her.

The stunt woman worked as a mermaid at Florida’s Weeki Wachee Springs tourist attraction and had done work with many wild animals, such as a tiger and a bear.

Backlinie was going after her first movie because she knew Spielberg would be interested in something no other actress could offer.

“If you hire me, you might get close-ups of the stunt itself.” He told the director, “If you hire an actress, she’ll have to cover her face.”

Auto Draft

“I went to stunts to find the perfect stuntwoman, and Susan was up to the task,” Spielberg wrote in Laurent Bouzerau’s book Spielberg: The First Ten Years.

Backlinie talked about what Spielberg told her before they filmed the famous scene in an interview in 2017.

“The first thing he said to me was, ‘When your scene is done, I want everyone under the seats with the popcorn and the bubblegum,’” she told The Post.

A lot of people have paid tribute to the actress and stuntwoman on social media, with a lot of focus on her role in Jaws.

“Susan was a loving and kind person, and the Jaws community will miss her very much,” said Jeffrey Kramer, who also played Susan on the show.

“She has a special place in our hearts.”

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Rest in peace to Susan Backlinie. Her Chrissie Watkins in ‘Jaws’ had the most memorable tug on the leg in movie history.”

Another fan said, “She has to go down in movie history,” and a third said, “She did an unbelievable job that made the whole world afraid of the ocean.”

A lot of people have said nice things about her, like “scream queen legend” and “class act.”

One man even said that her role helped him with his lifelong job of looking for sharks.

“Susan will be remembered forever and immortalized as the first victim of the great white shark of Jaws fame,” the fan wrote on The Daily Jaws when they reported her death.

“As a kid of 11, it made me interested in GW sharks for some reason.”

“Now 61, I have cage dived in South Africa and Australia recording over 29 different GW sharks, rip Susan, thank you, Susan.”

WATCH: “The Five” Flames Tarlov Over Attempt To Ignore Walz’s “Stolen Valor”

Jessica Tarlov is back on “The Five” after maternity leave, and the usual sort of explosions from Gutfeld, Watters, and Pirro over her leftist comments are back in force.

Recently, that took the form of Tarlov getting roasted over her attempt to defend Kamala’s running mate, Gov. Walz, who has been accused of “stolen valor.”

As background, Walz, who formerly served as a sergeant major in the Army National Guard, retired and dropped out despite having two years left on his contract when the unit was to be deployed to Iraq, with many saying that he left his men in the lurch by doing so.

He has also lied about his military service, saying he carried weapons “in war” when he never served in combat or during a war. Many argue that those exaggerations of his service and his leaving service when it would have meant war show that he has engaged in “stolen valor.”

What sparked Tarlov’s comments was Sen. J.D Vance saying, “What really bothers me about Tim Walz, as a Marine who served his country in uniform, when the United States Marine Corps, when the United States of America asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did it. I did it when they asked me to do it and I did it honorably, and I’m very proud of that service.” Vance added, “When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, you know what he did? He dropped out of the Army and allowed his unit to go without him, a fact that he’s been criticized for aggressively by a lot of the people that he served with.”

Tarlov lost it over Sen. Vance’s comments about Gov. Walz, which came up when Judge Jeanine Pirro used them to eviscerate Walz. Attacking him and bringing up the story that got John Kerry destroyed, she said,  “So obviously, this was going to come up because the Trump campaign manager was the one behind the John Kerry Swift Boat attack, which was obviously very persuasive to people.”

Continuing, she attempted to defend Walz’s record by attacking Trump, saying, “He served for 24 years, honorably, then he stopped to run for Congress on a platform of ending the war, and I don’t think that anyone, especially with Donald Trump at the top of a ticket, he dodged the draft four or five times, bone spurs, Captain Bone Spurs.”

Responding, Gutfeld fired back, “Bone spurs are a very serious issue, Jessica.” Finishing her rant, she tried to push another discredited story about former President Trump, in addition to her recent bleach comment, saying, “[Trump] said that people who had gotten captured, ‘suckers and losers.’”

She continued, “He denied he slept with Stormy Daniels but that obviously hasn’t worked out for him. I don’t think you should ever say anyone who served didn’t do a good job in this. If J.D. Vance wants to get into that tit-for-tat, he was in the public affairs department. It’s just a fact of all of this. I don’t think he should be going there with Tim Walz. I think that everyone who has served—”

Then, when Vance was brought up, Tarlov snapped, “He was a reporter!” “He was in a war zone,” Jesse Watters responded. He continued, “He was in Iraq. He was in Iraq, Jessica. He was in the Marines. And this guy left his unit … Listen, it doesn’t matter what I think, Jessica, his unit thinks he’s a coward.” Responding to Watters, Tarlov snapped, “It’s not true!”

Cracker Barrel Went Woke And Now Its Stock Is Plunging

According to recent reports, the popular chain restaurant Cracker Barrel faces financial consequences after joining a long list of companies and pushing a woke agenda.  The restaurant is known for appealing to conservatives in rural communities who often disagree with liberal politics.

Over the past couple of years, Cracker Barrel has sparked controversy for propagating an LGBTQ agenda. Recently, the company’s stock tanked after it cut its dividend and initiated a change in its strategic direction. Many have called on the restaurant chain to set aside political virtue signaling and focus on its operations.

Co-founder and Editor of @TAmTrib Will Tanner recently commented on the financial turbulence Cracker Barrel is experiencing.  “Cracker Barrel and its California CEO went woke, pushing “Pride” stuff on the country, conservative demographic and now its stock is nosediving “Go Woke, Go Broke” isn’t always true, but here it appears to be,” Tanner wrote on X.

Investopedia also commented on the news that Cracker Barrel stock declined, writing, “Shares of Cracker Barrel plunged Friday after the restaurant and novelty store chain slashed its dividend as it embarks on what it called a “strategic transformation plan,” and lowered its guidance.”

Last year, The American Tribune reported on backlash against Cracker Barrel after the restaurant made statements on social media supporting the LGBTQ agenda. It was pointed out that this contradicts the restaurant’s common aesthetic, which often appeals to Christians, conservatives, etc. At the time, some suggested that Cracker Barrel could have positioned itself to become the “new Bud Light.”

Cracker Barrel posted a picture on Instagram and Facebook that celebrated “Pride” month, showcasing rainbow rocking chairs and a caption that read, “We are excited to celebrate Pride Month with our employees and guests. Everyone is always welcome at our table (and our  rocker). Happy Pride!”

Unsurprisingly, the posts generated substantial criticism online.  One person wrote, “Cracker Barrel just made my boycott list!” and “Another one bites the dust …” However, others downplayed the message, stating, “Pick your battles, folks. Just because they have that non-rainbow doesn’t mean they’re marketing to kids.”

Others expressed similar sentiments that they would no longer be dining at the establishment.  “Not necessary. No longer a family restaurant. Lost my business.”  Another comment read, “Thank you for making it so easy to shop somewhere else. So tired of the agendas. Is there a normal marriage chair.. lol. Not sure why a restaurant needs to celebrate someone’s dating/love life ect to have an agenda to push. No thanks. Can we not just eat food?”

Furthermore, the Texas Family Project wrote at the time, “We take no pleasure in reporting that @CrackerBarrel has fallen. A once family friendly establishment has caved to the mob.” The post on X featured screenshots of Cracker Barrel programming relating to pride and DEI initiatives.

One of the screenshots shows a message from the chain that reads, “This year Cracker Barrel’s focus was to be a part of the Pride experience. We had two locations in the park, both equipped with seating areas and coverage for people to sit down and cool off, while allowing for natural conversation. In the Cracker Barrel spirit of hospitality and belonging, we call it “bringing the front porch to Pride.”

‘Aunt Jemima’ Brand Faces Backlash Over New Name

Aunt Jemima’s new name, Pearl Milling Company, has faced backlash online from users for sounding more like “gravel mining company” or “a James Bond villain.”

Twitter users quickly shared their feelings on the matter, with some threatening to switch to its competitors, Mrs. Butterworth’s or Log Cabin, because of the new name.

“I think it sounds like a gravel mining company,” one person commented.

„We recognize Aunt Jemima’s origins are based on a racial stereotype,” parent company Quaker Foods says, announcing plans to change the brand’s logo and name.

Another person wrote that the Pearl Milling Company sounded like “something owned by a James Bond Villain.”

Another person commented: “Pearl Milling Company? Sounds like a generic house brand for Dollar General.”

Several users said that they would boycott the company altogether.

“Sadly I would never recognize it and will probably go to Log Cabin,” one person wrote.

“They really changed the name of Aunt Jemima syrup to Pearl Milling Company?! Like they really couldn’t think of a better name than that?! I’m sticking with Mrs. Butterworth’s from now on bc she thicc & rich, also doesn’t have a dumbass name,” another person commented.

The Aunt Jemima brand announced its name change following intense backlash for using a “racial stereotype” as basis for its syrup mascot.

The logo was created based on the 19th century “mammy” minstrel character – a black woman content to serve her white masters.

Pearl Milling Company is a reference to the small Missouri mill that produced the pancake mix – later branded Aunt Jemima – in 1889.

Parents should ask permission before changing baby’s diaper, expert claims

A sexuality expert divided parents’ opinions after stating her belief that a baby’s permission should be asked before their diaper is changed.

As you probably know, babies can’t actually speak – but Deanne Carson believes there are ways in which a tot can communicate with you without words to say when they’re happy with being changed.

Deanne discussed the matter on ABC News back in 2018, and it’s safe to say she got the reaction you’d expect.

She suggested that parents ask ‘if it’s okay’ to change their diaper before doing so.

Experts divides people with baby changing advice

„Of course the baby is not going to respond ‘yes mum, that’s awesome. I’d love to have my nappy changed’,” Deanne admitted.

„But if you leave a space, and wait for body language and wait to make eye contact, then you’re letting that child know that their response matters.”

She didn’t say what parents should do should a baby’s language suggest that they didn’t want changing, however, meaning that the baby would be left lying in their own filth until they ‘consented’. Hardly an ideal scenario…

As I’m sure you can imagine, Deanne’s sentiments went down like a lead balloon with the majority of parents.

One person wrote on Twitter: „Either she has never wrestled a toddler during a change or worse, she just left hers in a sh*tty nappy until it was ready to consent.”

Another person labeled the whole thing as ‘seemingly absurd’.

„You’ve got to be kidding me,” fumed a third. „A child relies their parent to take care of them and that includes personal hygiene! Especially as toddlers and babies.”

Elsewhere different social media users agreed that consent is important, but Deanne may have taken it a step too far.

„I’ve never been so confused in my life. Teaching children consent is 100% important but come on,” someone said.

A couple of years after Deanne’s viral interview, a popular childcare chain seemingly took a leaf out of her book and also encouraged parents to ask their child’s permission to change their diaper.

Staff from Only About Children centres issued advice to parents and told them to ‘ask for co-operation’ when it came to changing their kids diapers.

“Ask for your baby’s help, talk them through what you are doing and encourage the use of senses,” the advice said, as per The Herald Sun.

“When toddlers become mobile, nappy changing may look quite different. Continue to ask for co-operation but understand that your toddler may wish to now stand for their nappy change.

“Also to encourage their independence, you may ask him [or her] to take off his own nappy or wipe himself.”

America’s most beloved family have been involved in a fatal plane crash on route to a concert.

The only remaining member of the group released a heartfelt statement about the deaths.

A plane carrying the Nelons, a well-known and loved gospel family in the United States, crashed and killed all on board.

Seven people died in the terrible accident, including Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, and Nathan Kistler, their son-in-law.

Melanie Hodges, who worked for the family, and Larry Haynie, a pilot, and his wife Melissa also died.

That person, Autumn Nelon Streetman, wasn’t on the plane at that time.

When their plane crashed over Wyoming, band members were on their way to Alaska to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise.

Someone said the plane crashed into the ground in flames, and firefighters and other emergency workers rushed to the scene as a wildfire broke out.

According to the Wyoming sheriff’s office, no one survived.

In a statement about the tragedy, Autumn Nelon Streetman said, “As many of you know by now, my parents, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister Amber, brother-in-law Nathan, and our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie, were in a terrible plane crash on Friday.”

For the prayers that have already been said for me, my husband Jamie, our soon-to-be-born son, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark, thank you.

“Your prayers, love, and support will help us get through the next few days. Thank you.”

A video taken just before they got on the plane that was going to crash shows Jason talking to his family and the pilot on a Nebraska runway while smiling.

FlightAware.com says the plane was a Pilatus PC-12/47E owned by Haynie Enterprises.

The accident will now be looked into by the National Transportation Safety Board.

In 2016, The Nelons were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame. They are widely seen as one of the most important families in US gospel history.

I Shall Not Be Moved, Come Morning, and We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown are some of their most popular songs.

They have also been nominated for three Grammys over the course of their career.

Heartbreak for Harry and William. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing

The uncle of Prince Harry and Prince William, Lord Robert Fellowes, has died.

He was 82 years old.

Lord Robert was married to Princess Diana and was the late Queen’s private secretary from 1990 to 1999.

During the “annus horribilis” of 1992, when the royal family had a lot of problems, he helped the Queen.

In that year, Prince Charles had a fight with Diana, Prince Andrew broke up with Sarah Ferguson, Princess Anne got divorced, and a fire destroyed Windsor Castle.

Mohammed al Fayed, the owner of Harrods, later made some strange claims about Lord Robert. He said that he wasn’t responsible for Diana’s car accident in 1997.

He was born at Sandringham House in Norfolk in 1941, when the Second World War was at its worst.

After going to Eton College, he joined the Scots Guards on a short-term commission in 1960.

In 1963, he started working as a banker for Allen Harvey and Ross Ltd., a company that did discount brokerage and banking.

Lord Robert got married to Lady Jane Fellowes in 1978 at Westminster Abbey.

Diana Spencer, Lady Jane’s sister and later Princess Diana, was a bridesmaid at the wedding.

Fellowes was hired as an Assistant Private Secretary by the Royal Household in 1977.

Between 1986 and 1990, he worked as a Deputy Private Secretary and then as a Private Secretary. He did this job for 20 years.

Lord Robert was in charge for nine years, until 1999. Robin Janvrin took over the job after him.

When he worked for the Royal Family for 20 years, Queen Elizabeth II gave him the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal.

He also worked as an extra horse for the late Queen until she died in September 2022.

Robert was made a Baron at the end of his term, and Lady Jane became a Baroness before him.

The official day he took his seat in the House of Lords was October 26, 1999.

They had three kids together: Eleanor Ruth Fellowes, Alexander Robert Fellowes, and Laura Jane Fellowes.

It was very sad when Diana died in 1997, and Fellowes told The Telegraph, “I was very fond of her.” She was a great person.

It was hard for her to be happy, and I feel bad for people who are going through that.

World famous actress has died in a tragic car accident.

An actress and model died when she was hit by a fast-moving car on the highway while she was fixing her car’s wheel.

The 22-year-old Kamylla Cristina Rosa de Oliveira was stopped on the shoulder of the GO-217 highway in Piracanjuba, which is in the state of Goias in Brazil.

The terrible thing that happened happened when Kamylla and two of her friends were in the car that started having problems.

The driver told the Goias Military Police that one of the front wheels felt funny.

They got out of the car on the highway and stopped to look into the problem.

They found that some of the bolts that held the wheels in place were missing when they looked more closely.

It is not clear if someone was trying to steal the wheel and got scared when some of the bolts were taken off, or if they had just come loose and fallen off.

Sometime while Kamylla was working on fixing the wheel, she was hit by another car.

It’s sad that she died at the scene.

The person driving the car that was said to be going too fast did not stop and drove off.

The model was hit by a car that Kamylla’s friends were unable to provide police with information about.

It was only said that it was a car going in the same direction as them.

Laura Teixeira, Kamylla’s friend, wrote on social media, “We REFINED setting up our long-awaited agency.”

Do you think I told you enough times that I loved you, friend? “My God, I’m in so much pain.”

It was said by another friend, “Whenever I think of you, I will remember how happy and bright you were.”

“Now you will make the angels happy, rest in beautiful peace and may God comfort the whole family.”

The police are still looking into how the star died.

Princess Kate’s major surgery leaves fans in tears

Kate’s Health Journey

Kate, 42, started treatment for her condition in late February and is currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy.

Before her appearance at the Trooping the Colour on June 15, the Princess of Wales shared a personal update. While working from home, she mentioned that her treatment was going “well,” though she still experienced “good days and bad days” and wasn’t “out of the woods yet.”

Kate’s statement hinted that she might attend “a few public engagements over the summer,” but this shouldn’t be seen as a full return to public life. During their children’s summer break, the Prince and Princess of Wales stayed at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and the whole family was seen at Bear Grylls’ Go Wild festival.

On August 11, Kate and Prince William also congratulated Team GB on their achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympics through a video message.

In recent months, Kate has attended some significant public events, such as the King’s birthday procession and the Wimbledon Men’s Final.

What Kate Says About Her Well-Being

On June 14, Kate made a public statement, and Kensington Palace shared a new photo of her at Windsor Park.

“I’ve been deeply touched by all the kind messages of support over the past few months,” Kate said. “This has been a big change for William and me, helping us through some really tough times.”

“Anyone who has had chemotherapy knows there are good days and bad days, but overall, things are going well. On tough days, when you’re weak and tired, your body tells you to rest. But on better days, you want to make the most of it.”

“I will continue treatment for a few more months. When I’m feeling well, I enjoy taking part in school activities, doing fun things, and starting to work from home.”

“I know I’m not fully recovered yet, but I’m looking forward to the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer.”

Public Appearances

Fans of the royal family were thrilled when Kate joined the family at the Trooping the Colour in June.

Kate, along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, rode in a carriage to the ceremony at Horse Guards Parade. She wore a white and navy outfit by Jenny Packham.

Later, the Princess and her children watched the flypast from the balcony with the Prince of Wales, the King and Queen, and other senior royals.

In July, Kate attended the Men’s Wimbledon final with her sister Pippa Matthews and daughter Charlotte, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.

She looked stunning in a purple Safiyaa London dress as she watched Carlos Alcaraz play Novak Djokovic. After the match, she presented the winning trophy to Alcaraz on the court.

When Will Kate Fully Return to Public Life?

Kate has not returned to public life as fully as before, and her future appearances will depend on how she feels.

There is no fixed timeline for her return to work. She is being given time to rest and recover.

On March 22, in a private video message, Kate shared that after undergoing abdominal surgery in January, it was initially thought her condition wasn’t cancerous. However, further tests revealed the presence of cancer.

“I’ve had an amazing medical team who has taken great care of me, and I’m so grateful for that. These past few months have been incredibly tough for our whole family,” Kate said.

Kate and William have promised to share updates “when the time is right for them as a family.”

“This has been a huge shock,” Kate said. “William and I have been doing everything we can to handle this privately for the sake of our young family. It’s no surprise that this has taken time. After major surgery, I had to wait before starting treatment.”

“But most importantly, it took time to reassure George, Charlotte, and Louis that everything will be okay and to explain it to them in a way they could understand.”

What Kind of Cancer Does Kate Have?

Kensington Palace has not revealed the type of cancer Kate is battling, respecting her privacy.

Why Did Kate Need Surgery?

The reason behind Kate’s major abdominal surgery in January hasn’t been disclosed. At the time, it was believed the surgery wouldn’t result in a cancer diagnosis. However, subsequent tests showed otherwise.

Kensington Palace confirmed at the end of January that Kate had undergone scheduled abdominal surgery at a private clinic in London.

“The surgery went well, and she is expected to stay in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before continuing her recovery at home,” the palace stated. “Her doctors advised that she likely won’t be able to return to work until after Easter.”

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the public’s attention to this statement,” the palace added. “She wants everyone to know that she values her privacy and wishes to maintain as normal a life as possible for her children.”
