Howard County Sheriff Jerry Marr got a disturbing call one Saturday afternoon a few months ago. His 6-year-old grandson Mikey had been hit by a car while fishing in Greentown with his dad. The father and son were near a bridge by the Kokomo Reservoir when a woman lost control of her car, slid off the bridge and hit Mikey at a rate of about 50 mph. Sheriff Marr had seen the results of accidents like this and feared the worst. When he got to Saint Joseph Hospital, he rushed through the emergency room to find Mikey conscious and in fairly good spirits.

Living with cancer, Shannen Doherty is embracing each day as it comes. In her most recent social media video, the actress and her mother, Rosa, can be seen dancing together as Bowie, the actress’ German shepherd, can be seen in the background.
Shannen Doherty’s tumor was discovered by her dog in fact, even after she had received the all-clear from breast cancer in 2017. To remove the malignant lesion, the star at the time had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Doherty told Entertainment Tonight, “[Bowie] again was kind of right in this region when I returned back from [cancer] surgery.
“She would then sniff every inch of my body as I underwent my first round of chemotherapy. She used to be fiercely protective, but now she is more like a mad dog. Being near her makes it challenging to approach me.”
After experiencing “strange” back sensations after working out, Doherty quickly discovered that her cancer had come back.
She was given a stage four cancer diagnosis this time because the illness had progressed to her spine.
She told Elle magazine: “I’ve got a lot of life in me,” despite the fact that her prognosis was limited in time.
Doherty shared the following photo on Instagram to demonstrate that she is appreciating each moment for what it is: “Today was my cheat meal after 21 days on a reset diet.
“I dove into fries, bread, and wine after cutting out all carbohydrates, sweets, and unhealthy foods. Also, dessert.
“Had a great cheat meal… I simply want to be the best version of myself right now. I’m not sure what that is, but I do know that the first step is healthy eating.
I’ll resume my clean eating tomorrow, but for today, I’ll have one more dessert.

In the Instagram post shared on Super Bowl Sunday, the celebrity chef admitted she was “giggling because I had a small hidden bruise that was activated today.” She went on to explain, “You can probably hear them because my pants are rubbing together, and it makes this particular sound. I stopped wearing them because I was…mercilessly mocked, you know, ‘I’m too lazy to do anything about it. They wouldn’t rub together if you…’” she trailed off.
Bertinelli defined “hidden bruises” as “something that emotional, verbal, mental abuse do to you. People can’t see [them], but we got to deal with [them] every day when they’re activated. I’m so grateful the work that I’m doing on healing, is working.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Bertinelli took to Instagram to detail some of the trauma she experienced while married to Tom Vitale. It started on Monday when the former One Day at a Time actress posted a video of her lip-syncing a trending sound that says, “Oh my god, oh my god, why would you do that?” followed by, “I don’t know.”
In the video, she wrote, “Why did you let them stay after finding the texts?” – which initially left a lot of her followers confused. She was apparently talking about abusive and rude text messages she received from her ex-husband, Tom Vitale, while the two were still married. She later explained the video in her Stories.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Valerie Bertinelli explained how her therapy and sobriety have caused her to relive past trauma – which is bringing up a whole world of emotions. “I’m happy because I physically feel better. I’m getting better sleep, but I’ve noticed that – oh boy – lots of feelings are coming up,” she said.
She went on to explain how she used to use food and alcohol to suppress those emotions, but those days are over – as are her days of letting others, such as her ex-husband, walk all over her. “I have been screamed at so many times and told how fat and lazy I am,” she said, speaking of her marriage to Vitale.
“I realize…that was someone just projecting on me whatever they needed to project on me, but my part in all of it was believing it, and I don’t believe it anymore. But it still doesn’t stop the feelings from coming up and the hurt,” she continued, adding she’s ‘feeling the feelings and letting them go. Giving them a voice.’
She ended her Instagram vent session with a message to her followers – don’t let others rob you of your joy and happiness with the stupid things they say about you. Don’t listen to it, don’t give it your energy, and don’t believe it. “It’s not true. Someone’s trying to dim your light. F— ’em. Shine bright,” she said.
Valerie Bertinelli Celebrates Day 31 of Alcohol Cleanse
On January 31st, Valerie Bertinelli took to Instagram to celebrate Day 31 of ‘Dry January’ – an alcohol cleanse throughout the month of January. She appeared to be on a walk somewhere and even said she might keep the cleanse going a little while longer – adding she has a dinner date coming up on Saturday.
“Happy last day of ‘Dry January.’ It is January 31st. You know what, though, I think I’m not going to drink tomorrow, either. I guess I might have a cocktail on Saturday because I have a dinner date. But other than that, I think I might keep it going a little longer. How about you?” she said in the video, with a big ‘ol smile.
Bertinelli also took to her TikTok – yes, she’s active on that, too! – to talk about all the healing she’s doing lately. In one video, she had just finished a ‘Rolfing’ appointment – which is a “form of bodywork that reorganizes the connective tissues, called fascia, that permeate the entire body. She seemed exhausted.
“There’s a release that happens that’s really helpful, I believe, and that a lot of emotional pain is stored in the body. And I’m doing my best to heal from it in every way – my therapy, my journaling, my meditation, Rolfing. And I like sharing it with you guys because a lot of you understand what I’m going through,” she added.
Cutting ties with members of the family is never an easy decision, but there are times when that’s the only reasonable thing to do.
A man shared a story of a traumatizing experience and a day no one could prepare him for.
The day started as usual. He was at the office, trying to find some missing files, when his phone started ringing. It was his eight-year-old son Luke who was supposed to be at school at the time. Looking at the phone, the man realized that his son had called him 10 times before, and he immediately knew that something was very wrong.

He rushed to call him back, freaking out, when he heard the boy saying, “Daddy, please come home!! Mom is crying…”
“Slow down, buddy. What’s happening?”
“Daddy, I don’t know what to do. I just came home and now I hear mom crying in her room!”
“Why didn’t you go into her room?” the man asked his son.
“I’m too scared to go inside. I hear other voices in there!”
“Okay, okay! Stay in your room. Lock the door! I’ll call your mom,” the man said, trying not to panic.

He tried calling his wife, but the call went straight to voicemail. This wasn’t something usual for his wife who always picked up when he called her. Sadly, this made him even more terrified. He quickly grabbed his keys and called 911 as he rushed out of the office.
Unaware of what could be going on, the man couldn’t wait to get home.
When he arrived, the cops still weren’t there but he couldn’t wait for them, he simply had to enter the room and make sure that he wife was safe.
No matter what it was, or who was inside the room, he was ready to face them.
The man kicked the door opened and to his surprise his wife wasn’t inside the room. It was her sister, Diana, having “fun” with two men.
At that moment, his wife, Nikkie, came in with the cops running after her. When she saw her sister, she was horrified.
“Diana?! What the heck?!” Nikkie blurted out.
The man’s sister-in-law was wrapped in the expensive sheets and pretended as though she didn’t do anything wrong. “I thought no one would be home. Just having a bit of fun, that’s all,” she said.
Diana was married and she believed that Nikkie’s home would be the perfect place for her extramarital encounters. She used the key Nikkie once gave her and she believed there would be no one at home.
However, that day Luke felt sick and one of his teachers was nice enough to drive him home before previously alerting Nikkie who arranged to get the rest of her day off from work.
The teacher believed the boy would be safe at home until his mom arrives, and yes, he was supposed to be safe, but this incident scared him for life.
Luke couldn’t stop hugging his mom and asking if she was safe.

The man sharing this story added that he had also sent Diana’s husband a warning text about his wife because he believed he gad the right to know what she was doing.

In an unexpected turn of events, a stepfather funded his stepdaughter’s wedding, only to be hurt when she chose her biological father to walk her down the aisle. But instead of lashing out, he took the opportunity to make a heartfelt toast that left everyone speechless.
It all started when a man shared his story on Reddit’s “Off My Chest” forum. He expressed his frustration and disappointment as his stepdaughter’s wedding day approached. He had been a significant presence in her life for the past 10 years, despite not being married to her mother.
He had gone above and beyond to support his stepdaughter financially, paying for her college education and helping her with transportation. However, what troubled him the most was the special treatment she gave to her biological father, who had a history of breaking her heart.
As the wedding drew nearer, the stepfather discovered that his request to invite 20 of his close friends and family members to the wedding had been ignored. He found out that none of them had received actual invitations, and his name was conspicuously missing from the announcement card.

As the waiters were bringing more drinks and more appetizers, the grandma’s neighbor raised a toast in which he highlighted OP’s generosity in covering the expenses. This set the stage for an unforeseen chain of events. OP wasn’t happy he was expected to cover the bill for that many people without even be consulted about it in advance. According to his calculations, the bill was around $4,000 until that point, and counting. Realizing his family was trying to take advantage of him, OP decided to leave the place. He left $100 on the table and said, “I’m not paying for dinner,” as he stormed off. His phone wouldn’t stop ringing. He received numerous messages, mainly from his mother, but he decided to turn the phone off and retire for the night. The following day he left the country without saying goodbye. Despite recognizing his less-than-ideal handling of the situation, OP felt devastated that his family wanted to take advantage of him and his generosity in such a sneaky way. “I know I’m nta with the dinner but more concerned about my reaction [sic],” he wrote. Following his mother’s persistent pleas to call her, he decided to talk to her and apologize for storming out of the restaurant in such a manner, offering an olive branch. Sadly, he was met with accusations of being selfish, greedy, and disrespectful.
This came as a shock to OP who showed extensive kindness to his family over the years. Among the rest, he provided his mom with two cars, a bathroom remodel, a roof replacement, new appliances, and on top of that, he paid in full for numerous family vacations. The accusations angered OP to the extent that he decided to put an end to any assistance for those who failed to appreciate it by taking drastic measures. Shortly after, OP initiated a cascade of cancellations: six AT&T lines, internet services, streaming accounts with changed passwords or outright cancellations, removal from AAA coverage for the cars, termination of car insurance coverage for their mom, and the cancellation of the credit card they had provided. This decision marked the beginning of the end of funding things for people who never showed any gratitude. Most of the family members wanted to get involved into the feud, and OP was even uninvited from a cousin’s wedding with the explanation that they wanted to avoid any drama, yet the expectation for a gift remained. One of his nieces, who wasn’t present but heard from a third-party, informed OP that on the day he left the restaurant, the family tried to cancel the rest of the dinner, but with appetizers and drinks already served, they reluctantly split a $700 bill. That same niece also told OP that the entire family branded him a greedy monster. As expected, the Redditors unanimously deemed OP “NTA. “Everyone else at that table “knew” you were going to be paying for dinner but you. How odd.
