In families where a lot of money is involved, there can be problems among the relatives. Nobody knows who is going to get what until the numbers are read, and that can leave hurt feelings in some cases.

In this story, a woman is devastated over the loss of her mother and it only gets worse when her siblings and aunts receive the inheritance. All she got was an envelope, but things were about to change.

A lady said her parents could live with her, but they didn’t like it. So, she asked them to decide if they wanted to stay with her or go to a nursing home.

A lady on Reddit, who’s a widow and lives alone, told that her kids moved out. Even though she has a big house with five bedrooms, she turned some into offices and hobby rooms.

To make space for her kids when they visit, she changed her garage into a guest house with its own entrance.

She said to her kids, “You’ll stay in the guest house during holidays.” They said okay, but things changed when her parents needed help.

What’s the deal with the woman’s parents?

The lady built the guest house for her kids, but her parents wanted to move in. She said okay and informed her kids.

She explained that if they wanted to visit, they’d have to stay inside the main house because the grandparents were taking the guest house. The kids agreed.

On moving day, the children came to help move the grandparents into the garage. They planned that one family would stay in a hotel to make things easier.

But her parents got puzzled when the family moved stuff into the garage. The lady explained that the garage was where her parents would live, saying,

“They thought they could stay in my house because I have five bedrooms.”

She said she had just two bedrooms because she turned the others into offices and hobby rooms. The extra bedroom was mostly for her dogs.

What was the response from the woman’s parents?

The lady told her parents she didn’t think they’d want to stay inside the house and assumed they’d prefer the garage, which had its own bathroom and kitchen. Her parents weren’t pleased about it.

Even though the guest house had everything for a good life, the woman’s parents were still sad and mad. She complained,

“They wanted the house, not the garage like Fonzie.”

She told them they had to stay in the garage. Then she explained they could choose between the room she set up for them or a nursing home.

The lady was surprised her parents were unhappy about staying in a decent garage without rent. People on Reddit sympathized with her.

Someone thought her parents sounded spoiled, saying if she let them in her house, they might take over, and she’d struggle to get them to leave.

Someone else on Reddit believed the lady’s parents wanted the main house so she could take care of cooking and cleaning for them.

Another person shared a story about their friend who made a nice guest house for their parents, and they’re happy with the privacy and being close to their child.

But a few folks felt the lady should have explained things clearly to her parents right from the start. They suggested she should tell her parents they could visit her in the main house occasionally but must respect her boundaries.

On the first night of their honeymoon, the husband isn’t sure how to tell his bride about his stinky feet and smelly socks,

while the wife is wondering how to break the news to him about her awful breath, which so far, she’s been able to cover up.

After some soul-searching, the husband gathers his nerve and says,

“I have a confession.”

She draws closer, peers into his eyes, and says,

“Darling, so do I.”

Recoiling, he says, “Don’t tell me—you’ve eaten my socks.”

Little Johnny went to the mall and rushed to a toy shop to pick up a toy plane. He gave the shopkeeper Monopoly money and then started to leave.

The shopkeeper told him,

“Excuse me, little boy, this isn’t real money.”

Little Johnny continued walking out of the shop without any reply.

The shopkeeper repeated himself, and Little Johnny kept walking.

The third time the shopkeeper called him, and Johnny said “What?”

The shopkeeper said,

“I’m sorry, young man, but this is not real money.”

Little Johnny looked at the plane in his hands, looked at the shopkeeper and finally said,

” And this isn’t a real plane.”

Parenting is a personal journey, and each parent chooses what they believe is the best method for raising their child. The truth is, no matter which approach one chooses, there will always be people who are judgmental and criticize the parenting style of others, believing their own method is the right one.

But could there be a unified approach to parenting when every child is a unique individual with specific character, needs, and preferences? I believe not, so why don’t we just let parents decide what’s best for their kid without second-guessing their choices and strategies?

A mom named Emma penned a letter to Bright Side, asking for advice and explaining why she no longer forces her 8-year-old son to say phrases such as “sorry” and “thank you.”

Emma started her letter explaining that her choice to parent her son that way comes from her personal experience of living with strict parents. According to her, her mom and dad’s approach to raising her and her siblings in a household where rigorous rules were followed led to anxiety and low self-esteem, something she hoped her son Georgie won’t experience.

When she became a mother herself, she made a decision that her parenting style won’t involve a power struggle between the parent and the child because she doesn’t feel superior to her son, which doesn’t mean she ignores her authority over him.

This, however, has led to conflicts between her and her husband who is convinced that she should be more strict. He believes their son “should understand social norms and the consequences of his actions.”

Emma recalled a situation when Georgie pushed a kid at the playground and she didn’t make him apologize for his actions, instead, she was the one who approached the mom and her kid and said she was sorry for what Georgie did. The mother, however, wasn’t happy and demanded Georgie apologize.

Emma said she wouldn’t force Georgie to say sorry if he didn’t really mean it, because doing so would mean she’s teaching him to be fake and to believe that the feelings of those around him are more important than his own. She, however, wants him to be led by example and learn how to apologize by watching her do that and adopt that habit eventually.

The mother at the playground called Emma “a bad and irresponsible mother.”

Now, although she’s convinced her parenting style is the right one and gives positive results, the criticism from her husband and the parents around her made her question her choices.

Two tiny children were killed when their home in Defiance, Missouri, exploded.

They were at home because school had been cancelled due to the harsh cold.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Julian Keiser, 4, and Jamison Keiser, 6, died early Friday morning before they could evacuate or be rescued from their burning house near Highway 94, just outside of St. Louis.

According to authorities and a GoFundMe page, their mother, Evelyn Turpiano, and grandparents, Jennifer and Vern Ham, were able to evacuate and find safety.

“They were the sweetest little boys,” neighbor Sharon Oberlag told the publication. “They were so cute, and they thought going to school was the most fantastic thing.”

She stated that Julian, who had just started kindergarten, and Jameson were at home when the blast occurred because their school had postponed classes to keep them warm.

Firefighters arrived minutes after the cops did, but they were unable to save the house before it caught fire.

According to Dan Casey, chief of the New Melle Fire Protection District, the smoke eaters entered via a window and searched for the children.

“They weren’t able to find them right away due to the fire conditions,” Casey explained, adding that the youngsters were ultimately discovered dead.

Oberlag told KMOV that she heard an explosion-like boom emanating from the residence.

“Everybody came running of course to help and, God, we never realized we would lose the two little boys — it’s so sad what has happened,” she told the newspaper.

Oberlag kept going: “They tried, Nick and Travis, the neighbor, they tried getting the boys, but they couldn’t, it’s just devastating,”

The cause of the fire and explosion is still being investigated.

According to the Post-Dispatch, the building belonged to the Hoffmann Family of Companies, a Florida business that Missourians David and Jerri Hoffmann founded. The company had purchased nearby eateries and wineries with the goal of making the area the Midwest’s Napa Valley.

“Our hearts are with the member of our team and their family who lost their children and grandchildren,” the company said in a statement Friday. “As family owners, we are committed to our community and supporting our employees.”

The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation.
According to the publication, the house was close to Defiance RoadHouse, a bar and grill run by Turpiano, the mother of the fatal boys.

Turpiano’s mother, Jennifer Ham, has previously run the restaurant for many years, Dan Tripp, a co-owner of Defiance’s Good News Brewing, told the Post-Dispatch.

For the family, Tripp created a GoFundMe campaign, which, as of Monday morning, had raised over $145,000. The Defiance Merchants Association is a charity that promotes the regional wine business, and he said both women are members of it.

The fundraising claims that “If you ever met the boys at the Defiance Roadhouse, the Christmas Festival or the St. Patty’s Day parade, you will never forget their enthusiasm for life and the joy they brought to all around them,”

“Not only will the family need to pay for two funerals, they will also lose their house and all of their possessions. In addition to your financial support, the family will need your prayers and emotional support as they grieve the [loss] of two special little boys,” it says.

Laura Emerson, a neighbor, came over to hang her Christmas wreath and tack two plush animals to a water pump close to the burned-out house.

“Those boys were sunshine. They were bright. They were happy. They were loved,” she told the Post-Dispatch.

The Notebook’s Emma, portrayed by Gena Rowlands, passed away at the age of 94 following a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

The actress passed away today surrounded by her loved ones.

Director Nick Cassavetes, Gena’s son, revealed to the public in June that her illness was Alzheimer’s.

According to TMZ, he was present at her Indian Wells, California, home when she passed away with her family.

In June, Gena’s son revealed that she had been battling Alzheimer’s for five years and was now suffering from “full dementia.” The official cause of her death is still unknown.

Her character Allie Hamilton in The Notebook likewise suffered from Alzheimer’s.

IN MY MIND, GENENA

As word of her passing spread, followers flocked to social media to express their condolences.

The actress was featured in a photo tweeted by the prominent X account @FilmUpdates, which read, “Gena Rowlands has sadly passed away at the age of 94.”

Fans offered their sympathy in the replies.

One user wrote, “Heading to watch The Notebook tonight.”

Fourth, “It’s very depressing news. RIP,” they sobbed.

“What a talented actress!” “RIP,” wrote writer five.

“Wow, awesomely long life,” was written by someone else.

There was another who remarked, “Not my notebook, grandma.”

Gina’s Battle

In June, during the 20th anniversary celebration of The Notebook in the film business, Genea’s son discussed her personal health battle.

Nick discussed his mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis with Entertainment Weekly.

“My mom has had Alzheimer’s for the last five years, and I got her to play older Allie. We spent a lot of time talking about Alzheimer’s and wanting to be authentic with it,” he said.

“Yes, she has complete dementia.” It’s now our turn because we lived it and she acted it out.

In the 2004 film, Gena portrayed an older Allie, demonstrating her battle with the illness.

Rachel McAdams portrayed Emma Stone, who was Allie’s younger self.

After the film came out, Gena commented about how crucial the role was to her, since her mother also suffered Alzheimer’s.

“This last one was especially hard because I play a character who has Alzheimer’s,” she stated in an interview with O Magazine.

“I don’t think I would have done it if Nick hadn’t directed the film; my mother and I went through that. It’s just too difficult. The film was amazing and really emotional.
